The following review written by one of the Software Informer contributors applies to version 2.1
Hazard Shield 2.1.0.1 is a free antimalware program that will help to keep your system clean. The program is able to detect, remove, and prevent the installation of spyware, trojans, backdoors, adware, rootkits, and other threats. You will be able to schedule scans and automatic updates. The Main Menu has 7 buttons. Each one will let you perform different actions. The "Scanner" button will let you scan your computer for threats. You will be able to choose if you want to do a smart, full or custom scan, including memory, registry and host files. After doing that, you can trigger the selected scan. The program will check your drives for malware, using its multi-threaded scanning engine. Should the program find any malware, it will show you a list with the found items. You will then be able to tell the program to remove the selected items, or ignore them. You can save the results to a file for later reference. The "Updates" button will allow you to check for any available program or database update. You can then download and install them. You can also set the program to check for updates automatically. The "Realtime" button will launch a program that will remain active in the background, supervising every process in your machine, preventing your system from being infected. The "Settings" button will allow you to configure the program. Among other things, you will be able to choose how to check for updates, schedule scannings and add items to the Ignore list. When you do changes in your registry, the program will offer you to save backups of them, in order to be able to roll back undesirable changes. The "Backups" button will let you access and manage those saved backups. The "File Killer" button will allow you to delete files that couldn´t be deleted in an ordinary way. The "Tools" button will grant you access to three utilities built-in in the program: Uninstall Manager, Process Manager and System Tools. |
- It´s a powerful free utility, that offers free updates and even free technical support.
